Meet Madison Huizinga, Summer Intern

Hello!

My name is Madison Huizinga and I am thrilled to be an intern at Curator this summer! I’ve just completed my second year as an undergraduate student at the University of Washington, where I am majoring in Communication. Outside of school, I enjoy dancing, cooking, reading, and hiking. I’m a born and bred Seattleite and enjoy exploring the city in any way I can. Since I have lived in the Seattle area my entire life, I am excited to work with a PR agency that collaborates with many local brands.

My entire life I have been a communicator. Growing up, dancing and performing on stage were my main passions because they allowed me to express my emotions and tell stories to large audiences through movement. In school, I learned to harness writing as another means of self-expression and storytelling. Whether it’s pouring hours into my school papers, writing blog posts for local businesses, or scribbling personal stories in my journal, I have always written with great enthusiasm in any way I can. Ultimately, communication was the common thread that ran through my love of dance and my interest in writing, leading me to pursue it in college.

As I’ve grown up, my devotion to the art of communication has expanded bigger than myself. While self-expression is important, I’ve learned the value in using my passion to help other individuals and organizations share their messages with the world. This is what has led me to pursue a career in PR and marketing, as creatively conveying a brand’s story is one way I can apply communication in a business setting.

I am grateful I have the opportunity to learn about PR strategies from the expertise of the Curator team. I’m eager to learn how to better translate my passion for storytelling into a public relations context and learn more nuanced ways to communicate brand messages to the public.
