Say hello to Sammi Maloney, Winter Intern

Hi everyone!

My name is Sammi Maloney, and I am excited to join Curator as an intern this winter.

I am originally from Southern California but have lived in Seattle for almost four years now. I am currently a senior at the University of Washington (go Dawgs!) and I am excited to be graduating in June. At UW I am majoring in Communication with minors in Business Administration and Law, Societies, and Justice. While the topics I am studying vary, I have found that the most impactful aspect of my education has been learning from experts in a variety of fields and expanding my view of the world in as many ways as possible. I am looking forward to the opportunity to apply what I have learned so far to Curator over the next 10 weeks.

Prior to getting into PR, I worked as a Marketing intern at a design agency called Phantom Design and I was an Events intern at Make-A-Wish Orange County and Inland Empire. It took me some time to find PR, but I am so glad I did! I am looking forward to building on my PR skills and continuing to expand my knowledge.

In addition to interning here at Curator and being a full-time student, I work as a Media Relations Representative with the Seattle Kraken where I am fortunate enough to be in my second season with the team. Working with the Kraken made me realize that PR is what I wanted to do, and I haven’t looked back since. I also come to Curator fresh off a historic season as a PR intern with the Seattle Mariners where I was a part of the front office during the team’s first postseason run in over 20 years! Through these experiences, I have found a love for working in PR and I am excited to have my first opportunity to work in an agency and gain a whole new perspective on the industry.

Outside of school and work I really can’t sit still and love to explore new things. I consider myself still relatively new to Seattle and I love to explore everything that Washington has to offer from restaurants, hikes, and nature, and I spend as much time outside as possible. I am always looking for recommendations for things to do in Seattle/the PNW! As much as I love exploring locally, I am excited to take some time post-graduation to travel the world.
